One of my favorite beaches to travel to is Figure 8 Island. This secluded island is the perfect blend of everything you want when you go to the beach. The water is cool and refreshing, the sand is the perfect shade of tan & white, the sun is warm and the houses are phenomenal.
I love everything about Figure 8 Island. And for the past 8+ years, I have been going there over the summer with my best friends and their family (a.k.a. my second family – or basically my family). I have looked forward to this trip because of its spectacular views, wonderful weather, great food & fun times.
But the true value of vacationing on Figure 8 Island is the tranquil atmosphere. You will not find any hotels, traffic, tourists or crazy shopping centers. It is a 5 mile long island with serene, private beachfront homes just minutes from all the exceptional amenities of Wilmington, NC and Wrightsville Beach, NC. Those locations are just a short drive away and they have the shopping centers, restaurants and lots of tourist attractions.
Even though you don’t have all the crazy shopping centers, hotels, traffic and tourist attractions… there is still so much that you can do!

Some of my favorite things to do on Figure 8 Island would definitely be the shell seeking, sunrise/sunset watching, swimming in the ocean & taking walks along the shore. I love having the quiet time and spending this time with my loved ones.
