Anyone else have the travel bug? I just got back from a work trip to Atlanta, Georgia and I really got the bug to start traveling again. Going to new cities is so much fun! It is like you get to explore a whole new world with new people and new sites to see. Atlanta is one of those places. My best friend lived there for 4+ years so I was able to visit her and explore the city. There is so much to do in the city as well as the surrounding areas.
So needless to say, going to Atlanta even for just a couple days was a bunch of fun! Now I have been there beforeā¦ many times actually and there is A LOT to do here. Even if you have been there a couple times. The city is MASSIVE and the traffic is crazy. So you are going to want to take all of that into consideration.
Letās get down to the detailsā¦ here is my city guide for Atlanta, Georgia. I decided to break it up for you. Below are a couple of tips, things to do and restaurants. Check them out below!
Tips for Atlanta
- Avoid the highways at rush hour
- If you can, avoid the busy times at restaurants
- If you find a parking spot, take it! (even if you have to walk a bit)
- Take an uber around town
- Be aware of events & where they are taking place
What to Do
Georgia Aquarium
I love going to the aquarium. It is a bit on the pricier end but it is a fun experience and you can spend hours there! Plus it is a great place to visit if you are traveling with little ones!
Sporting Events
There are plenty of sporting events in the city that you can go enjoy! Here are some of the teams you can watch!
- (MLB) Braves
- the Braves have a new stadium and it is awesome! this is definitely a site you will want to visit.
- (NFL) Falcons
- the Falcons have a new stadium – the Mercedes-Benz stadium is absolutely gorgeous!
- (NBA) Hawks
- (WNBA) Dream
- (MLS) United
TopGolf
As a golfer, I try to find places to golf everywhere I go. And TopGolf was the perfect place for that in Atlanta. I went to the location in Midtown and we all had a blast! I have been to this location twice and it was a great experience both times.
Ponce City Market
This market is the perfect place if you want to walk around, shop & grab something to eat! There are so many shops like Anthropologie, J.Crew & Madewell. If you want to get something to eat, I would totally check this food hall. There are so many options from authentic ramen, to donuts to a candy bar!
Fox Theater
I have never been to the Fox Theater but there are always shows on the schedule! Take a look at their schedule and see what they have to offer while you are there! It is an historic theater so it would be amazing to be able to see a show there!
Festivals & Concerts
There is always something going on in Atlanta! I am sure that you could find some sort of festival or concert during your time in Atlanta!
Where to Eat
- Bar Taco (the one in midtown is my favorite)
- Cypress Street Pine & Plate
- Fat Matt’s Rib Shack
- Flip Burger
- Gordon Biersch
- Mary Mac’s Tea Room
- Sweet Auburn Barbeque
- Thumb’s Up Diner
