Hello again! Welcome back to book club. I hope that you all enjoyed the last two books. This month is going to be good as well. I have been looking forward to reading them both for some time. I have just been waiting for the right […]
With a new season. you will need to freshen up that polish. I got a question asking what my favorite fall nail polish colors are this season. After some thought, I came up with these 5 colors. Ironically, before I got this question I had […]
Fall is finally here and I couldn’t be more excited. There are so many things that I want to do when the leaves start doing so I thought a fall bucket list would be perfect… not only for me but for you!
I have put together some of my favorite fall activities that I thought we would all enjoy. Check them out below…
Go to a Pumpkin Patch
This is a very traditional fall activity but it is a must do for your fall bucket list. Relive those childhood memories and take a candid picture in the field of pumpkins and pick the pumpkin you want to carve. Maybe even top it off with a hayride. You won’t regret it.
Attend a Football Game – and Tailgate
Nothing says the return of fall like football season. I am a HUGE football fan so obviously this is on the top of my list. The one thing I love about this game is that no matter who we cheer for, we all come together for the game we love. Get your game day outfit ready, call your tailgate crew & channel that team spirit. And don’t worry, you don’t have to just go to an NFL game, there are plenty of college and high school games going on every week – and plus, they are just as fun.
Go Apple Picking
Just like the pumpkin patch, the apple orchard is another fall activity that is a go-to. Once you pick all those apples, make the day even memorable by dipping them in caramel & covering them with your favorite toppings. It is an activity you can enjoy while at the orchard & for many days afterward.
Bake a Pie from Scratch
One of my favorite things about fall are the desserts. And the only thing better than dessert is a homemade dessert. So of course one of the things I had to add to my fall bucket list would be to bake a pie from scratch. Whether its apple or pumpkin (or even chicken pot pie), your house will smell as great as the pie does. Oh! and have the extra piece.
Take a Scenic Drive for Leaf Peeping
I went to school in the mountains and one of my favorite things every fall was going on a drive to look at the foliage. The burst of warm colors and the clean, crisp air just tear at your heart strings and cleanses your soul. Make a cup of hot cocoa to go and hit the road!
Host a Bonfire & Eat S’mores
Are you looking for a go-to fall activity? Building a bonfire in the backyard with s’mores and your best friends. Start your bonfire as the sun goes down & watch the sun set with warm company.
Experiment with New Soup Recipes
Ahhh. Nothing says fall like soups & crockpot recipes. Trial & error in the kitchen is very fun so get out your cookbook & tackle a new recipe. One soup that I am looking forward to trying out would be a vegan tomato soup. What are you thinking about trying?
Have a Movie (& Hot Cocoa) Night with the Girls
Honestly, there is nothing more I love than hanging out with my girls, watching movies & drinking hot cocoa. This is the perfect weekend treat for when work can get stressful during the week. Maybe get a stack of those scary movies and watch some of the classics!
Send Handwritten Notes to Those You Are Thankful For
The art of handwritten notes is fading in today’s society but it is still one of my favorite things to do. I love sending my loved ones a little note in the mail to make them smile. During this fall season, maybe drop them a note telling them why you are so thankful for them.

Happy September! Since it is the first of the month… Y’all know what time it is! NEW PLAYLIST TIME! Yes I know… I think I might be more excited than y’all but I truly love searching for new music every month to share with everyone. With everything going on with Harvey (the hurricane that hit Texas) and the crazy weather here on the east coast, this month’s playlist is a bit “moody” for a lack of better words. Basically I am all over the place but I hope you still like some of the songs!
And as usual, we will have a song of the month and this months playlist. Be sure to check them out below & have a listen!
SONG OF THE MONTH
So a friend actually told me about this song and as soon as I listened to it for the first time I was in awe. Demi Lovato tore it down with this track. Her goals are seriously amazing. Make sure you turn it all the way up when you listen… trust me on that!
Just a reminder though, you can check me out on Spotify & see all of the new playlists each month that I have put together and see all the artists & music I follow. You can see that here: Kerri Dice on Spotify. Or you can see all of my posts about music here: Music with Kerri Dice. I am also putting together a 2017 playlist which is a compilation of all the songs from every month. Check it out here: 2017 Playlist
Thanks again for listening y’all! If you have any suggestions or a song you think I need to listen to, leave a comment below! I would love to hear it and hopefully add it to the next playlist!
Boundaries… we all know they are important but do we all really have them? It is important to set boundaries between work and life. Even though we all know how much of a struggle it is.
Not matter how hard we try, we find ourselves checking our work email during the time we have set aside for Netflix or working on a project on a Saturday afternoon when we should be spending the day recuperating from the past week.
The line between work & personal life is blurring and you have to get ahold of it before it completely disappears. And unfortunately it goes both ways – that includes taking personal calls during office hours or online shopping before your next meeting.
Now… our lives aren’t going to be packaged into neat compartments so we are bound to have a little crossover but it is ideal for us to maintain balance & set boundaries.
But in order to set boundaries between work and life, here are a couple tips to make it easier!
- Accept That You Aren’t Perfect | This isn’t meant to be discouraging but it does need to be said. You aren’t perfect and this transition to setting boundaries isn’t going to be perfect either.
- Recognize Your Limits | Like I said earlier, you aren’t going to be perfect so it is important to know your limits beforehand. I know that I am not going to be able to completely shut work out on the weekends but I do always try to make some work-free time. Boundaries aren’t a one-size-fits-all so figure out what works best for you.
- Create a Schedule | I always like to make sure I set work-free time for myself during the week so I have some time to decompress. Set time during the month to reevaluate to make sure I am sticking to my plan and boundaries.
But in the end, one thing you should remember is that you can always adjust your boundaries when necessary. Make time for yourself and reevaluate every month to make sure your priorities are straight. Nothing is set in stone.
Also, remember to not be so hard on yourself. Being constantly connected can make things difficult. That is why setting these boundaries can help you disconnect. It isn’t going to be easy but if you take these steps and apply them, you can move forward.
I have one last question for you… Do you set boundaries for yourself?
Thanks for reading! I hope that these tips help you set boundaries between work and life. For more tips like this, check out my career page.
On this day 2 years ago I was sitting in a hospital room surrounded by my family, doctors and nurses. I honestly don’t even remember half of what was said because as soon as the doctor told me “It is cancer,” everything around me stopped. […]
